      Thanks!
I never bet (money) against Canelo...

Not a fan of promoters per se, but definitely of DAZN.

Fights on Showtime or ESPN would only be shown in Canada 50% of the time. And often, they'd be PPV. Now I can get Canelo, GGG, and AJ fights on DAZN for $150/year (plus NFL Sunday Ticket, Premier League, and Bellator). So yeah, I'm pulling for DAZN to keep growing.

Honestly, it's been around since the beginning.

The original promoter was also the trainer, manager, and venue owner.

Everything starts under Figg and Figg's House. Your first seven champions are all Figg students who all trained under Figg and fought for Figg in his Amphitheatre.

There were times when Figg would simply elect a champion, Whitaker, and times when a student would claim it. Figg himself though was seen as the judge in boxing. So a claim might get squashed by Figg and his promotions or might get endorsed by Figg and his promotions.

Tom 'The Claimant' Pipes was considered champion by some because he is the man who beat the man. He's also called The Claimant because in his day that's all he had, a claim, not Figg's approval.

After Figg dies two of his most famous students would start their own amphitheaters and run campaigns to get the public on their side. Both would claim championship. Eventually they'd fight and Broughton defeated Taylor making him the clear and undisputed champion. Broughton, seeing how a venue controlling the narrative could ruin boxing only lays down the law, for his rules, toward the end of his time in boxing.

He was defeated by an untrained butcher. Shows just how great the Figg era really was.

Ever since, we've had these characters who are meant to be some kind of authority in boxing but are really just salesmen.

Eventually it's not even former boxers but rather money men who control narrative.

I don't think there was ever a time when fans wouldn't argue over promoters or promotion. I think there's been plenty of times when public decision on the topic is hard to find but when you do find it you will never find an era with people who have no opinion on the man doing the selling.

... of course you have to hedge it...

... I know that the Russian is crazy, but I guess that he will take the money and deliver a nice sparring match. I predict that Canelo wins a "hard fought fight"...

I'm thinking about taking Kov. and trying to get at least +500?

I just can't picture the judges seeing Canelo's head snap back a bunch of times from that jab? Talk me out of this??? You know I'm a huge Canelo fan but a MW beating a LHW Champ??? Even if he's a drunk he has a GREAT trainer, Great Jab, Height, Reach, Size???

I mean GGG almost beat Canelo with JUST a jab and NOTHING else

What advantage does Canelo have??? I'm asking as a friend? I just don't see it...Canelo loses.

It's really strange to me. I have always just been a fan of boxers and followed them and rooted for them no matter who they fought for or on what network they fought for. Now you have so many posters that seem to be more fans of promoters or networks than fans of individual boxers. It makes no sense to me and I can't understand that type of thinking. The boxers do the fighting and I am a fight fan, not a promoter fan or a network fan. Some promoters do a better job of getting good fights for boxers but still it's the boxers I care about.

It’s what happens when fights don’t get made...fans of those fighters gotta get some kind of “win” if they can’t get it inside the ring.
