Derrick James responds to Crawford saying he's the A-side against Spence

I think he was using hyperbole when he said Crawford doesn't deserve a fight with Spence because Crawford said Spence needs him. But everything else he said was spot on.

ESPN isn't putting the money & platform behind Crawford the way FOX is putting money & their platform behind Spence. They're supposed to be building for a joint PPV but one side isn't doing their part.

FOX isn't doing anything special for Spence. There's still plenty of the lowest priced tickets available for his next fight. Most of the upper deck at Staples Center will be closed off. He isn't well known outside of Texas. He's not a big enough draw outside to be considered the A-side against a first ballot hall of famer. The slot after the Heisman Trophy is the best slot for a boxing match. Loma's fights have done better ratings than most PBC on Fox cards when he fought Rigo and Pedraza after the Heisman ceremony. This year it's Crawford who'll be headlining on that date.

I have to admit, they’re not promoting this Spence vs Porter fight right!

I just now today seen a promo on a YouTube ad and I be on YouTube everyday!

The fight camp is good and the face to face is solid but they needed more since this is a welterweight unification between two champs in their prime!

ESPN is doing even worse, thy have no interviewer over there that can get the best outta Bud in a interview!

I mean why they didn’t have Ward or Bradley interview him yet?

PBC has put lots of focus on Spence though but ESPN has been focusing on Tyson Fury not Crawford!

You can't be serious. The slot after the Heisman trophy ceremony is a built in audience. Most people aren't tuning in to specifically watch the fight. Lomachenko has fought after the Heisman trophy ceremony and it's done little to build his profile. He's still fighting in half empty arenas in LA and had to go overseas to be the B-side to Campbell even though he's the champ.

Crawford got a huge audience after the Alabama game and his next PPV barely broke 100k.

What do you mean they aren't promoting Spence right? Examples?

Their face to face had higher ratings than the Pacquiao vs. Thurman face to face. There is tons of shoulder programming behind this fight

It dont matter A side B side. When 1 side doesnt want the fight nothing else matters, and Spence dont want that work right now.

Let’s see the Porter fight, after that they should just try and make the bud fight. Then the winner can get Pacman as instructed by Pacman.

Showing Spence at a football game is also a built in audience. Showing the face to face after a college football after a football game is also a built in audience. Fox and ESPN are doing the same thing.

Loma's fight against Rigo had a higher rating in the 18-49 demo than the Heisman Trophy so there was plenty of people tuning in specifically to watch him. Attendance doesn't have much to do with how well they've built a fighter's profile. Wilder still fights in half empty arenas sometimes, so do Danny Garcia, and Shawn Porter. Ticket sales haven't been so great for Spence-Porter at Staples Center either. They only configured it for about 10k capacity and there's still plenty of tickets available and for very low prices.

Loma's one of the biggest names in the sport, so is Crawford. Fighting on on someone else's turf is different than being a B side. Loma still made more money than Campbell. Crawford is one of the biggest names in the sport and it would be really dumb to accept B side status against Spence. It's not like Spence has consitently proven to be a big PPV or TV ratings draw.

There were ads for Spence vs Porter all over the Fox NFL games today.

Spence absolutely is the A-side compared to Crawford.

Spence had 6 million people watch him fight on NBC. Spence first PPV did better than Canelo vs. Smith, Canelo vs. Lara, & Canelo vs. Angulo.

Wilder is not fighting in half empty arenas. His PPV'S against a relatively unknown Brit did better than Canelo's PPV vs a relatively unknown Brit.

It's cool to have an opinion and all but I need to see the numbers. People are gonna support you with their dollars. They're supporting Spence with their dollars while PBC haters such as yourself are detached from reality.
