    Modern training and nutrition.

What does "modern training and nutrition" even mean? Is it just a buzzword used by fans who claim today's fighters are better than past ones? Boxing training has changed little over the years, and how is modern nutrition that much better than that of past fighters? It's not like the past fighters were eating Twinkies and drinking Kool-Aid.

They use weights now a bit more and medicine balls and some stuff that wasn't used so much in the past.

        Plus creatine or other supplements.

What? Medicine balls were used extensively by the old timers.

Floyd Mayweather was pretty much still a fighter who endorsed old school training techniques and philosophies.

I think when people refer to modern training and nutrition, they are speaking about all of these unregulated supplements fighters take/strength and conditioning coaches 'Which in my opinion over complicate things at times'. The only strength and conditioning coach who I really rate highly is Alex Ariza.

Tyson Fury is head over heels, heavily involved in modern training/nutrition, and he is hardly pushing the boundaries of human athletic performance 'His engine is very poor, and he is a one trick pony at elite level etc'

The most successful boxers in recent times where pretty much old school, Floyd Mayweather, Joe Calzaghe, Bernard Hopkins for the larger majority of his career etc

There was a interesting documentary, about Joe Calzaghe which showed him training/eating 'He enjoyed his black tea before his training sessions and runs etc'.

Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis where heavyweights who where pretty much old school 'It was only near the end of Mike Tyson's career did he incorporate new school techniques, and gym base routines'.
