Comments Thread For: Jaron Ennis To Serve as Co-Feature For Showtime's Shields Fight

Jaron Ennis is wasting no time getting back into the ring with hopes of extending his streak of 13 straight knockouts. Ennis (23-0, 21 KOs) will return to the squared circle on Oct. 5 against Demian Daniel Hernandez (12-1, 5 KOs) in a 10-round welterweight attraction. The fight will be featured as part of the Claressa Shields versus Ivana Habazin card at the Dort Federal Events Center in Flint, Mich.

Stoked to see Ennis on TV again. He'll walk through this Argentinian. I hope Ennis' promotional issues are behind him.

Boots Ennis at 22 yrs old would have no problems with hyped up WW's:
          Porter
          Pacman
          Garcia, Danny & Mikey
          Thurman
          Spence

Please don't mention resume, talk talent!

Matching Ennis with all these scrubs is counter productive, and does nothing for him. He gets better work in sparring. He's ready for a top 10 guy right now, and would probably beat Porter, Garcia and Thurman right now.

In 2/3 years these two will take the place of Spence who will have moved up and Crawford who'll be past prime in his mid 30's. I can't see anyone of their calibre on the 'horizon' meaning currently at 135 or 140. Haney maybe. Lopez don't think so.

Ennis would give Spence all he could handle right now.

'cept they won't engage right now as he has no resume. If Trout is coming down to 147 I'd like to see that fight. If he could get past Trout then he'd have a scalp and recognition.

With PBC giving Showtime less fights as of late, it is a blessing for smaller promoters like Cameron Dunkin, Dmitriy Salita and others who have some talented fighters but they don't have a Network Deal. Showtime should continue to invest into Shields, Jermaine Franklin, Boots Ennis, Shohjahon Ergashev, Brandun Lee... only negative is that if/when those fighters get big enough they will likely jump to Top Rank/ESPN, PBC or DAZN
