Comments Thread For: Johnathan Banks Explains 'Right Recipe' To Better Golovkin

By Thomas Gerbasi - It's the second time around for Gennadiy Golovkin and Johnathan Banks, yet as fighter and trainer prepare for GGG's October 5 date with Sergiy Derevyanchenko, nothing has changed in Big Bear, California. "It's the same," said Banks. "Same energetic GGG, same work ethic, same everything. We got...

"I need a smart style and new ideas,” said GGG. “I need to be different because everyone knows my style now."
    😭😭

I fux with GGG but he really making himself sound like a clown since he's been relieved of his boogeyman duties.

      GGG got several 'speeding tickets'.

He got beat for speed by Willie Monroe Jr. Monroe, Kell Brrok and Canelo. It's true that he needs to work on defence and most of all movement. Look at early fights and his am fights and he used much more movement. He can box well.

Looking forward to seeing the new mix in this fight.

Rolls smacked him around a bit, maybe trying to switch things around and trying new things at this stage is just going to make him more hittable

to be fair to ggg, abel's style had a lot to do with that...
it seems to me that now is a bit late to change his style and go back to the way he used to box...

Nah. GGG is a seasoned high ring IQ fighter. He’ll do what he has to do as Rigo did. It’s obvious GGG carried Brook until he got frustrated with the charade. He was advised to. Not to beat Brook quickly. Thing is GGG knows what he needs to do to win and the last good example was Lemeiux. Remember that’s when they pushed the Mexican style heavy but GGG was a no show and the GGG groupies praised his jab game...this luck of marketing ran out when Judges whom seen Canelo before and took all of GGg’s Verbal optimism to a high pedestal and again GGG did the same conservative fight. Imagine if Rigo promoted himself against Donaire as saying “you will see Mike Tyson style from me.”

Point is GGG is very frustrated here forward since he has to deliver to DAZN performance based. Luckily GGG is part of the Canelo molding and others for subscriptions. But DAZN of course will still evaluate the metrics for new subs with GGG not just the general viewership from let’s say subscribers whom bought Canelo.

Canelo’s lawyers know all this business. They can easily determine things by metrics surrounding Canelo. That’s why he pushes the needle.

GGG better give a good performance against Devry. If not, then we are more than sure that the LDBC are gay.

I'm really not sold on Banks. He could not get Wlad to listen to him, which I kind of understand. Wlad was older and more accomplished. But it still shows a lack of personality force. Cecilia has not looked good recently, as a matter of fact she has looked really poor. Golovkin's first fight with Banks was pretty damn bad. His defense ******, his movement ******, and the way he won was by reverting back to being the puncher. But sure, he was only with Banks for a few months at that point.

Long story short is that Banks has not proven anything at this point. He has a few strikes against him. G's fight with Derevyanchenko will show us a lot whether or not Banks is worth anything as a trainer. Just because he was assistant with Manny doesn't mean he's Manny's next coming.

How does he sound like a clown for saying he needs to adjust his style since people are getting wise to it? Everybody knows GGG is a pressure fighter who will set his feet and try to walk you down. Now that he's older and slower, making the right adjustments makes perfect sense. Maybe you DKSAB.

I the words of Dame Dash "you sound smart to somebody dumb."

1st off don't try to check me about anything until you step your reading comprehension & interpretation skills up. Now.. I said "been". Do you know what "been" means? Been means this has been going on for a while meaning this is not the sole thing that he's said. Do. You. Un. der. .s.t.a.n.d.?

He sounds like a clown because I believe what Abel has been saying about him. & his actions have done nothing but show it. I'm not going to list the quotes & contradictions he's said the past few months.

Father time is undefeated, you can know what you need to do. But that does not mean you can & will be able to do it effectively. In a nutshell another guy said it in the thread. "You're not going to teach an old dog new tricks." Analyze the words he used & we'll assess how well he implements those against Andrade, Charlo, Jacobs, or Canelo. Because they are the measuring stick.
