Canelo has been well matched with the right styles and the right timing. Goldenboy's secret sauce is in their makers Robert Diaz and Don Chargin. Canelo can complain all he wants but Diaz built Canelo's resume and Oscar sold it.

Floyd's career was also superbly matched and Floyd has uses that knowledge to match Tank Davis.

BTW, I realize the love sick fans will jump on me for these statements but that doesn't make them any less true.

Am I the only one who thinks it is unethical for a former trainer to give "how-to-beat" tips on his former protege? I'm not talking about possible breach of contract situation or he doesn't owe him anything (he doesn't), just professional ethics. Similar to the one that would not allow one trainer to openly disparage the other (exception may be made in case of Tunde "Lions in the camp", but he's not a trainer, let's be honest). They had a relationship, it fell through, both had reasons, but why would you use your intimate knowledge (even so obviously known to everyone) to sting your former boxer? This doesn't reflect well on Jackson, IMO.

That being said, it's hard for me to really believe we're going to see even 75-80% of the Kovalev that Ward fought let alone having just fought in late Aug and almost being stopped. However you rate that win for Canelo is upon discretion. It's very similar to Cotto fighting Martinez where even me being a hardcore Cotto fan read between the lines, that wasn't the Martinez that beat Pavlik. It is what it is though, Kovalev signed on the dotted line, no excuses from his standpoint.
Well Martinez also got injured during that fight.

Did somebody tell you there are ethics in boxing?

Come on dude a fight with Canelo can be considered a cash out fight for any opponent Canelo faces going forward. A fight with Canelo is going to pay just about anyone he faces more than they have ever made period. JDJ is just taking jabs at Kovalev that's all.

If I'm a fighter I don't know about hiring JDJ as a trainer. I understand he and Kovalev aren't on good terms but at what point do you let it go and move on to something else. Kovalev must've really done some foul sh** for JDJ to keep taking jabs.
