I'm not saying you're wrong, but I don't see that in either of the 2 articles I have read.
This is the notion I see being reiterated :

I don't see anything that indicates a "bluff was called". I saw where it says Garcia felt like he needed to beat either Avery or Duno to get respect, and that beating Petrov wouldn't do it. In fact, Garcia has been saying all along that Duno is the bigger fight and "deserves a bigger payday as a headlining act".

I don't have any dogs in this fight, nor support for any specific party, just objective observation of what's been happening with GBP:

        And Garcia said this :

That all sounds reasonable to me. Especially when you read all the background story to Sparrow's charges in April, his arrest, and all the circumstances surrounding the arrangement of the warrant and arrest. Very shady and questionable, if you ask me...
It appears like promoters are willing to make some quite shady moves, to get their fighters to do what they want, for how much they want.
Don't even bring up what Dana White and some other folks are claiming about Oscar and GBP. Eff Pandas may just be on to something when he says Golden Boy is heading for trouble...
It was a few weeks ago man. Golden Boy promotions gave Ryan three opponents to choose from for his September 14th fight and Ryan said he chose Sparrow over Duno and Hector Tanajara because supposedly Sparrow was a more difficult fight than the other two and he wanted a real challenge for Mexican Independence day.
So why would he want more money to fight Duno if according to Ryan himself Duno is a way easier fight than Sparrow???

Exactly. You could say that to Ryan Garcia himself. He is practically saying he deserves more money cause he has a large social media following, that's the only evidence he has that he's drawing in a larger audience. DAZN doesn't release their viewing numbers.

Oscar doesn't know how to promote black fighters

With Lomachenko-Linares he said similar things where he put his own fighter's back against the wall. Oscar I don't think has done too great a job building his next generation GBP star.

I can think of one. AJ/RUIZ but yer I understand what your saying and odviously AJs team got this one very wrong.
I also agree that he didn't need to take this fight only cause it seems like a shady scam by his promoter.

No one thought Big Baby was AJ's best opponent (probably Klitschko or maybe one could suggest Povetkin) & the consensus stance was Big Baby was top 10 to top 5ish while Andy was outside the top 10 so he wasnt considered a better opponent then Big Baby.

I also agree that he didn't need to take this fight only cause it seems like a shady scam by his promoter.
Well yea Im with you here doe. This isnt how a promoter does a fighter they want to continue working with & that they wanna build into his highest potential. If Ryan got beat by an opponent on one days notice whos his best opponent by a decent margin everyone looks like a r3tard. Thing is I think Oscar woulda been smiling in his office that next morning cuz he just diminished Team Ryan's power.

But ultimately I love this sh^t. Boxing needs more boxers vs promoters battles cuz the fighters are getting f#cked more often then see the upside they should be seeing under a promoter. Im 100% for more guys going the SRL & recently Devin Haney route of DIY promotion & only bringing on promoters on a limited basis or as partners. The power structure of the sport need to shift away from promoters. Long live Al Haymon, Devin Haney & Ryan Garcia & anyome else trying to carve out new paths to success in boxing or fighting back against mfers trying to push them around.

Nobody in Ryan's camp is saying to him that he's acting like a diva lets take it a little easy--we're not there yet. Everyone must be enabling this kind of behavior and pumping his ego even more.

On the other hand, could this be a ploy to get out of GBP company? Maybe there's a better offer on the other side and he's desperate to create chaos so that somehow GBP might release him. In the NBA, players use to create chaotic situation and be ultra problematic to force the team owner to release him.
