Canelo got schooled by a 36 yr old welterweight, Floyd. He is a good boxer, but not even close to ATG status.

Canelo also arguably lost to Lara and GGG. He seems to like fighting guys that are 36. (Floyd, GGG, now Kovalev) Let's see him beat a young lion when he is 36.

Anything is possible but he’d have to do something absolutely incredible to even be in the conversation with guys like Ray, Armstrong, Ali etc.

              After Kov he surpasses SRR.

SRR failed to beat the light heavyweight champion.

Canelo will do what SRR could not.

Thurman is more elite and ATG. His wins over Porter and Garcia are not su****ious. He fought better opposition.

To some he might be the GOAT. That stuff is personal opinion. I could never rate him the best of all time because I have seen other boxers I think were better. I thought GGG beat him twice when Canelo was in his prime at 27 and 28 years old while GGG was well past prime at 35 and 36 years old. I have to rate GGG as the better fighter. I watched Jose Napoles, Hagler, Duran, Monzon, Saldivar, Bob Foster and others who I thought were better than Canelo. I think Canelo is a great fighter but not even close to being the GOAT.

So all Canelo has to do is beat old washed up 4 to 1 underdog Kovalev and he instantly becomes the greatest boxer of all time. Unbelievable. In today's boxing we often have 4 champions per weight class. This lets a boxer hand pick the weakest champion of the four to claim a world title in a higher weight class. There are 3 other young undefeated light heavyweight champions Canelo could have fought but he was only willing to fight Kovalev for obvious reasons. Hearns and Tiger both moved up from 160 to beat the light heavyweight champion when there was only one light heavyweight champ. There may have been more than one light heavyweight champ for Hearns to fight. Iam not sure on that. Anyway Hearns beat the best champion.
