This is more or less the issue. It was a bit of sarcasm along with a “lets get real” type of comment from me. Marciano is ill equipped for modern hws. It’s not that Wilder is that good, it’s that the size is too much to overcome and the times are different.

HW isnt p4p and all things are not equal there. Marciano is a modern day LHW and even then hed not be huge.

The glory days are nice but I would be extremely hesitant to even call him a favorite vs the top light heavies of the last 20 years...and then going even at CW I’m like... ehhh..

Fortunately he didnt need to be better than a giant like Vitali or Fury or Lennox or anything and he gets alll the credit from being as good as he was then.

Fury goes 100-0 if he fights 100 times inserted into the start of Marciano’s career and ending.

Wilder would KOnMarciano in 30 seconds. As would many of today’s top HWs.

You can’t compare fighters to different eras.

Archie Moore fought for 8 years after his loss to Marciano and two of his three losses after Marciano were to Floyd Patterson and Muhammad Ali.

Joe Walcott was the heavyweight champion of the world win he lost to Marciano and had just defeated Ezzard Charles two out of three times prior to fighting Marciano.

Joe Louis was old but he’s the best heavyweight of all time, so it’s still a good win.

Ezzard Charles was a blown up light heavyweight.
Archie Moore was old AND a blown up light heavyweight.
