Kovalev is past prime at 36 and has shown vulnerabilities, but nonetheless he is still a legitimate LHW champion, so a win would still be a significant achievement for Canelo. It's just... well, like the rest of the big names on his resume - not quite as impressive as it looks on paper.

Ginger kid's still got the best resume in the sport though, even with that caveat, though he is in the enviable position of having his future assured win or lose.

Great fight and props to Canelo for taking it.

Sadly life is not a video game and I see Kovy winning 8-4 or 7-5. Kovalev has an excellent jab and a high work rate.

Canelos bodyshots didnt stop GGG over 24 rounds and I'm less fooled than most of media whose got Canelo being better defensively and more adaptable than SOG

Are you joking? You can't be Canelo on points, unless you KD him in 5 rounds, the judges work for him.

This is nothing but a cherry pick fight for Canelo to continue his casual fan harvesting.

How many fighters move up two weight classes to fight any champion, let alone one as dangerous as Kovalev still is?

If Canelo pulls this off (without weight draining Kovalev) it will be a great achievement. There is no need to denigrate it or qualify it in any way. Especially given how other fighters are getting a pass for conducting their careers in a much less challenging fashion.

Lay your Mexican palace on Canelo and then give me an adresse so I can chill for a month
And provide me with some of that ciento per ciento puro chit too , okayyyy ala Tony Montana
