Mike Tyson has ruined Floyd Mayweather's claims he is the best ever and superior to legend Muhammad Ali.
Holding a perfect professional record of 50-0, Mayweather has become one of the richest athletes on the planet, but with statements like this, many in boxing question the star's humility.
“When we talk about these champions, legendary fighters, we talk about how they have 100 and something fights, 100 and something victories.
"But when you look at the history books I still beat more world champions than any fighter in history.
"I respect these fighters because these fighters are the fighters that paved the way for me to be where I’m at, but there’s no fighter in boxing that accomplished what I accomplished at all.
"You can go back as far as you want to go back.”
Mayweather insisted the various achievements of his long career, which includes various titles and awards and his body of work, cements him as the best to ever step in the ring.
“I’m going to always love Muhammad Ali, always love Sugar Ray Robinson, always love Sugar Ray Leonard, always love every legendary champion… Joe Louis and the list goes on and on – but one thing I’m not going to say is that they are better than me, that’s not true.”
Bold statements such as these were always going to be met with a backlash from the boxing community, but the man known as 'Money' wouldn't have expected the biggest reaction to have come from former undisputed world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.
Tyson responded to the claim in brutal fashion.
"He's very delusional.
"Listen, if he was anywhere near that realm of great as Muhammad Ali, he'd be able to take his kids to school by himself.
"OK, he can't take his kids to school by himself, and he's talking about he's great?
"Greatness is not guarding yourself from the people. It's being accepted by the people.
"He can't take his kids alone to school by himself. He's a little scared man. He's a very small, scared man."
Certainly speaking for boxing fans in defending the greatness of Muhammad Ali, Tyson seemingly put Mayweather in his place.
