Under and to the body? Like Yarde had a bit of success with but wasn't experienced enough to capitalize on it. Kovalev doesn't really have a hook of his own to counter with either.Comment

Did you miss the original post?
Canelo is 5'7".
Yarde is as tall as Kovalev at 6'.
Doesnt matter is Kov cant hook. He can jab good with power.
And while Canelo's head movement is really superb today, his footwork isnt really at Pac level.Comment

No but I did overlook the large height disparity, probably due to my lack of nutrition and being run ragged by crazy young kids today, but I digress from useless excuses.
Good point about the feet, but I feel if he slips his way in and gets off first, Kov might have trouble due to his straight shots being smothered and no good hook to counter to the head while Canelo works the guts.Comment

canelo actually has one of the slowest foot work of any top fighter today. a lot of the times he plods forward. and all that extra weight will make him even slower. kovalev just needs to be himself (box from the outside with hard stiff power jabs and right hands) and he will beat up canelo.Comment

Same way he's dealt with Chavez and Fielding, who are the same height as Kovalev. Yes, I know Kovalev is a better fighter than those two but Canelo absolutely smoked them so let's not pretend he can't cope with height and reach.Comment

but those two gave up their height and reach by standing and trading with canelo on the inside for most of the fight. that's not kovalev's style of fight. kovalev will box from the outside and keep canelo at the end of his power jabs like he usually does. plus buddy mcgirt will make sure he sticks to the game plan of fighting from the outside.
canelo's only hope is to rush kovalev every round and attack, but canelo's foot work is so slow and his stamina is not elite.Comment
