When asked during an interview session with a group of reporters if he’d give Ruiz a rematch, Joshua replied, “No. I’m gonna fight some guy from the pub. That’s what the heavyweight division does, isn’t it? I said, ‘Why am I fighting all these solid contenders? I’m going to fight an easy fight after that.’ ”

“That’s why when you ask me who I’m fighting next, I’m telling you, I’ll fight who I want,” Joshua said. “Don’t tell me about no Wilder or Fury. Take it how you want, but that’s what I see the heavyweight division’s about.”

The bold are direct quotes. How does that differ from the article headline?

So it's guaranteed? Your analogy makes no sense. Try again and include the "not" it requires mate.

The part where he says he's going to fight "some guy from the pub" is clearly said in jest. If you can't see that then I don't know what to tell you mate.

As for not fighting Fury or Wilder next?? ...... well even if he wanted to it's not contractually possible, both Fury and Wilder have their next 2 fights signed and sealed. Joshua's next fight should he beat Ruiz will almost definitely be an IBF mandatory.

Thought Ruiz was supposed to be an easy fight.

This is EXACTLY the reason for which I hope AJ loses again.

"I’ll fight who I want" that's the mood I hate from AJ. He defends his belts with a strategy OUTSIDE the ring. He won't fight the likes of Ortiz, Usyk...let alone Wilder or Fury.

Hw dicision would get locked again if AJ wins. Please, Ruiz, ko him again.

Whoever wins will have no choice but to fight Pulev next or give up the IBF belt....so I'm sure you will see the winner against Pulev early next year in their next fight.

Joshua is right...fury's opponents are what a novice heavyweight faces in his climb up the rankings...I doubt fury even faces wilder again as I think he is gun shy from facing him in the rematch.

Send in Wallin, Schwartz, Ortiz on heart medication or Breazeale the breeze.

AJ offered Ortiz 7 million and Ortiz took 1/6th to fight Wilder because he thinks Wilder is one dimensional.

Wilder and Ortiz both ducked Andy because he's not easy enough.
