Dude, Margarito was KO’d by Mosley in a one sided beat down. He then moved up in weight to beat a nondescript can at 154 and then fought PAC. How “prime” was that?
Even then it was a calculated move by PAC’s team to make it a catch weight fight so PAC can dubiously claim the 8th division title.
To say Margarito was elite at that time is to show how lacking your boxing history is.
As for Rios, every single PAC fans believes that JMM had a “once in lifetime lucky punch” so based on that logic, PAC didn’t need a tune up.
Besides, Rios had literally just lost to Alvarado at 135 so he was moving up to 147 after a loss. If PAC needed a tune up then Rios was so brave to move up in weight after a loss that - maybe PAC didn’t need a tune up after all, don’t you think?Comment

The same midget that was destroyed by a small guy called Marquez?
The same midget that somehow beat up bigger guys than Floyd (with catchweights of course).
That midget?
Btw, watch PAC-Marquez 3 and see how PAC “runs” when he got tagged.
He did the same thing at 130 against Morales.Comment

You are forgetting that Pacquiao had more wear and tear on him than Margarito. He was twice KO’d in his career prior, went through wars with Barrera 2x, Morales 3x JMM 2X and Cotto. You make it sound like PAC was not a little battle worn himself. That, and Margarito came into that fight about 15 pounds heavier.———————

For all your criticism of PAC vs Rios you give Floyd a pass for Berto. Give him a pass for Bruseles, Augustus who had 16 losses, Sosa, Ndou, Mitchell, 0-0 McGregor.Comment

I am cougtering your argument that Margarito was “prime”. He was not.
All the other stuff about PAC’s “wear and tear” is irrelevant. So, once again, based on what i wrote about Margarito, was he in his prime?
Unless what you are trying to say is that both Margarito and PAC were shop worn? If that is the case then how does a “shop worn” boxer with “wear & tear” that has had several battle fights plus a few losses somehow become a threat to the P4P fresh Floyd? Do you realize how delusional and hypocritical that logic sounds?
FYI, You sound reasonable in your stance so I am going to have a respectful debate with you.
As for Berto, I think it was a garbage fight. Just because I am fan of Floyd does not mean I am blinded and support that BS. The question I have for you is, did you start hating on Floyd after he fought Berto or from way back? Let’s assume Floyd didn’t fight Berto, would your dislike of him be any less?
I like PAC. I can’t crap on his resume at 130 & below. He had great fights and I enjoyed them immensely. I am a boxing fan and can appreciate a lot other fighters. He also got beat and/or struggled against many other boxers.
My issue with PAC is from 135 to 147 almost all his fights were carefully selected against specific beatable boxers plus catch weights to weaken them.
PAC could have fought all the top WW at 147 from 2010 up to now but just look at his resume and try to justify many of those fights.
Finally, the guys that you mentioned (Bruseles, Augustus, Sosa, Ndou, Mitchell, McGreg) - dude, you can’t be serious. Floyd took over the mantle from Roy Jones in 2004 as the best P4P fighter. He wasn’t even a PPV Star. It wasn’t until he moved up to 140 to beat Gatti that Floyd became a cross over attraction. His first PPV.
Those names exist in every boxers resume as they mark their way into the limelight. Regardless, you are trying to say those guys were irrelevant which is incorrect. Floyd has a good resume at 135Comment
