The only problem with Canelo/Kovalev is the context in which the fight is getting made. If Canelo had cleaned out the division and then went up to fight Kovalev only the truly stupid would somehow find a problem with it.

Canelo tested positive for PED use which delayed the GGG rematch and gave him a better chance to win. He won and doesn't feel he has to fight GGG a 3rd time. He worked with the WBC to get the emeritus championship designation to avoid having to decide to defend against Charlo or get stripped of the wbc MW title. Then he was unable to make a deal to fight Deverechenko causing himself to be stripped of the IBF MW title. Then he couldn't make a deal with Andrade to try and unify and win the wbo belt.

I can understand why some posters just feel Canelo is delaying or avoiding these really tough MW fights despite his resume which includes the best MW's.

That pay has nothing to do with Gennady Golovkin’s $100mil deal.

We know Loeffler put a premium stipend with Mexican Holidays and in GGgs contract the minimum he gets for “Mexicanism” is $30mil. It’s not like Loeffler or GGG would assume a 4th fight but they would assure GGG’s highest Pat on DAZN for Canelo. This is simple business. The rest of GGg’s Fights are prorated after that.
