It’s tribalism.
You mentioned politics and it’s the exact same thing.
Someone picks a political party, a sports team, an athlete, etc.
They deem themselves a part of that tribe. They cry when their political party wins an election, when their team wins the big game or when their boxing wins the big fight. It doesn’t happen in boxing but usually the word “we” starts getting thrown around in other examples. It’s a telltale sign that someone has pick a tribe and identified with them.
That tribe can’t do anything wrong and anyone who’s against the tribe has some sort of bias. Because it’s impossible in that persons mind for someone to criticize the tribe unless there’s an agenda against the tribe.
So even if you have something completely rational to share, it won’t matter because they’re so caught up in the person or thing they’re rooting for being perfect... which of course isn’t the case.
