Tell me about this Abdullaev guy Haney is fighting

Looking at his boxrec the only name I recognize is Lundy. Is he any good? Does he have a chance?

He is a pretty solid fighter and he does have a chance. But I don't see him beating Haney. He can punch a bit, he is big, goes to the body well and is good at putting his punches together. Despite his size, he is more comfortable on the inside and mid range. That is good news for Haney. If Haney can keep him on the outside he probably wins a wide decision. If Zaur gets controlled by Haneys jab and keeps getting spinned... he will lose clearly. He should dig that left to the body and try to cut the ring off. He is a good fighter, but not good enough imo. I see a 9-3, maybe 8-4 (if Zaur does well) decision win for Haney.

He’s Russian and as far as I know, not a decorated amateur or anything of the like.

Maybe I’m wrong but if we havent heard of his amateur career it was probably not a good one.

From what I’ve seen he seems pretty big, comes forward, and has a decent left hook but seems on the slow end.

Does he have a chance? Sure. Never count a willful Russian out! Haney can punch when he sits down but we’ll see if he can keep this guy off him when he’s just slapping.

I don’t see Haney losing this. But hey, it’s hard to say when guys don’t have tons of info. Guy could very well come in on some terminator s hit and walk through Haney and just destroy his body and break him down.

Edit: Exactly, DuckAdonis. The guy seems like he will have trouble finding Haney. It should be the type of fight where one guy is constantly moving to hit a target that wont sit still and wont find the target often but will edge a couple rounds off pressure and the odd times he’s able to find his mark.

        looks very good to me

haney seems to be a massively improved fighter though

looked like a beast vs moran

and if you remember, there were complaints he was not aggressive or powerful enough earlier on in his career

ive only seen a little of haney's opponent, but from what ive seen , i dont think it will be a blowout

        haney decision most likely outcome

i would not be surprised if its close actually but i get the feeling haneys quicker jab will get him the points win

Has he ever fought in any country other than his own? Or is he one of these dudes that you've never heard of who somehow get ranked highly then get blown out in 2 rounds

            Looks very basic.

            Haney will win comfortably.

Think I've seen him 3 or 4 times now. Solid, young fighter imo. Looks pretty long, hits pretty hard. Has never really had to push it out of 2nd gear. Beat up Boyose and Martinez, was solid if unspectacular against Lundy and Berrio. Think Haney is just too much for him, though Abdullaev is a pretty good guy at 135, probably top 15 or 20, but it's a massive step up for him. I'll say competitive for 3 or 4 before Haney takes over

Zaur in nothing special but Haney himself is nothing special. Haney does everything well but nothing stands out. wont be shock if it turn into a barn burner like"Bradley vs Provodnikov'

Devin Haney is the best fighter of the new era, so "Abdullaev" doesn't stand a chance. You're welcome.
