Comments Thread For: Arum: We Needed Big Foe For Fury, To Get Him Ready For Wilder

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, the co-promoter of heavyweight Tyson Fury, says the main requirement for his boxer's next opponent was "height." Fury will face undefeated prospect Otto Wallin of Sweden on September 14th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

      Then how about
      Gerald Washington
      Efe Ajagba
      Joe Joyce
      Charles Martin
      Dominic Breazeale
      Daniel Dubois

All are 6'5" or taller, all are much more serious contenders than Wallin.

Wallin is a tough guy with skill and a better coach then Fury so ?

People are fooling themselves if they negate this fight but subscribe to a 49 year old Ortiz who lost by knockout last year and has zero notable wins in 4 years ?

Ortiz's wins in the last 4 years
          Bryant Jennings
          Tony Thompson
          Malik Scott
          David Allen
          Daniel Martz
          Razvan Cojanu
          Travis Kauffman
          Christian Hammer

Every single one of those guys is better than anyone Wallin has beaten.

Knowing Arum, Wallin probably took short money.

Bryant Jennings is his best win and was coming off a loss when Ortiz was 35 .

David Allen just got pummeled by whyte its also a top win on his resume.

Malik Scott retired after that fight bc he was so poor and Thompson lost to Malik prior to Ortiz HIMSELF ?

Martz ?.That all time great ?.Holy shyte ...i'll stop here.

Tough guy with skill who has never been in with anyone above cab driver level. If you have to compare and put down another fight just to give the appearance that a fight is good, you know the fight is trash.

Even still, Fury vs Ortiz is a better fight than Fury vs Wallin. Even if Ortiz really is 49.

The worst thing that can happen is that one of these guys gets injured before/during these fights then we wait another year for the rematch.

You ignored the part where he said they are/were better than anyone Wallin has fought.

Tell us why Wallin isn't Schartz Part 2.
