Under the radar heavyweight fights that will impact the title picture

Here are three upcoming heavyweight fights you didn’t know would significantly impact the rankings

    Michael Hunter vs. Sergey Kuzmin

Kuzmin is #5 in the WBA, Hunter is #8 and a lot of the fighters ranked ahead of them will most likely lose in their next fight. #4 Wallin is expected to lose his next fight against WBA unranked Tyson Fury. #3 is Anthony Joshua, who is in a rematch against the champion Ruiz next. #1 Trevor Bryan and WBA regular champ Manuel Charr are also scheduled to fight next. If everything breaks right for this #5 vs. #8 matchup winner, #4,#3 and #1 in the WBA rankings lose. The winner here could be on the verge of a WBA mandatory shot.

Kuzmin and Hunter are also ranked 7 and 10 respectively in the IBF. While the mandatory, Kubrat Pulev is already guaranteed the next crack at the title and while three fighters ranked above them (Kownacki, Kabayel and Tyson Fury) aren’t in danger of losing anytime soon, the winner could still be in a great spot. The Ruiz-Joshua rematch could bump the winners ranking up by default and a contest between two fighters in the IBF rankings is traditionally a quick path to a mandatory for that belt.

    Tyson Fury vs. Otto Wallin

Tyson Fury is unranked by the WBA but Wallin is ranked #4. So a win here probably puts Fury in the top 5 according to that organization.

This is also a 6 vs. 11 matchup in the IBF. As I touched on early, that’s traditionally a fast path towards a mandatory shot with that belt.

    Joseph Parker vs. Dereck Chisora

This is significant in the WBC rankings where this is a 6 vs. 10 match up. While #5 Adam Kownacki doesn’t seem in danger of losing anytime soon, #4 Luis Ortiz is fighting the champion Deontay Wilder next and is expected to lose. #3 Anthony Joshua will either win the rematch with Ruiz and disappear from the WBC rankings or he’ll lose and probably drop below the winner of this fight (as ****** as that may be). #2 Tyson Fury is supposed to eventually meet the champion in a rematch and #1 Dillian Whyte will either be called to fight the champion soon or be off the list because of his PED scandal.

So the winner here, especially if it’s Joseph Parker, could easily be a WBC mandatory by 2021.

Being mandatory in WBC doesn't really matter nor does their rankings, its the most insignificant ranking system bc they go by who they want in the ring ,not who should be . Its why Wilder can take 2 years to fight one.

Fury has showed no real interest in fighting Joshua spo rankings for him would mean little as well ,unless Ruiz is still holding the multi belts and Fury pressures Wilder in the rematch ? If Joshua wins my guess is wilder and Fury fight two more times .

Everything is on if Joshua wins, both wilder and fury are picking Ruiz and its mostly bc they like their chances better and will persue that one ,not Joshua. lol
