    Sultan Ibragimov and Mike Tyson.

Sultan Ibragimov is an up-and-coming Russian Heavyweight with an exciting style. He models his tactics after the exciting, fast paced style of Mike Tyson, who he is friends with. This Friday Ibragimov fights on Friday Night Fights and Tyson will be in the crowd cheering him on as he takes on Ray Austin. Anyone interested in this guy? He is 19-0 with 16 KO's. Unproven, yes. Not the greatest thing in the world? Certainly not. Exciting? I think so. I saw him fight once and instantly enjoyed his style. Not the slow, clinching type of heavyweight like his cousin Timur. This guy comes out swinging and isn't half bad. What do you guys think? Interested in seeing him this Friday?

Im definitely interested. he fights like a bigger version of jirov. always going forward with combos to the head and body. his one downfall is he looks very vulnerable to straight right hands, lance whitaker seemed able to land his often but slapped with it. hard to imagine ibrag surviving a big straight right handed puncher but he does have an exciting style

ive been looking forward to this fight since it was signed, im expecting sultan to win this fairly easily, i think it makes him the manatory for wlads IBF title does it not?

i think he is definately one of the top-10 heavyweights, he should cement that status with an impressive victory

Yeah Beez, I hear you about his vulnerability. But I think Sultan is what the heavyweight divison needs. Someone who dives in there and mixes it up. He has a good punch, decent skills, and keeps up a high punch output for a big man. I like what I've seen and want to see more.

And that makes two of us Hitman! I'm not saying he's the best, but I love watching him and have been waiting for this Friday for awhile now.

After the first round against Whitaker, Sultan became one of my favorite fighters! I said to myself, this guy is a ****ing animal! I loved it. I hope he goes all the way.

a guy who i work with who is no more than a casual fan of boxing came up to me raving about 2 weeks ago about the badass heavyweight he had saw on a tv replay. i soon realized he was talking about sultan/whittaker fight. just goes to show you an exciting style can make fans out of people who otherwise wouldnt watch. i have about 5 good friends that bought the cheap ppv that the figh was on and they all keep asking me when sultan will fight again

Everything I hear here is telling me that Sultan could breathe some life into the divison. Who wants to watch Brock? Of all the casual boxing fans I know who saw Brock's last fight...they were bored to tears. Who do people want to see? Vlad? Brock? Toney? Rahman? Maskaev? No, I think people would much rather see the big boys who fight like something is at stake. Regardless of talent level within the divison, as far as what is good for boxing it sounds to me like Sultan Ibragimov is. Tyson seems to think he's a good person to hand the reins down to.

The more I think about it, the more I find myself rooting for Sultan. He makes us want to watch because he risks his body the way he throws himself out there. Being a heavyweight, he's one of the big men, and fighting with the explosive style he does, inspired by men like Tyson, he makes fans out of people who know nothing about boxing. People who can't appreciate feinting, counter-punching or high accuracy enjoy and respect a fighter who throws at a high output- while being a heavyweight who can end a fight with one punch. We need some more like him. If you haven't seen him fight yet, check him out this Friday on ESPN2's Friday Night Fights.
