Comments Thread For: McGuigan: Luke Campbell Will Give Lomachenko His Hardest Fight

Shane McGuigan completely understands the unusually difficult nature of Luke Campbell's assignment Saturday night. Campbell's trainer is still convinced Campbell can pull off what would be one of the biggest upsets in British boxing history. Vasiliy Lomachenko is a 16-1 favorite over Campbell, but McGuigan considers his bigger, skillful southpaw the toughest opponent Lomachenko will have faced in 15 professional fights.

Only if Loma gets injured again. Linares gave Loma a good fight because Loma injured his right shoulder in Round 2. Then Loma barely used his right hand in the Pedraza fight because it wasn't fully healed back then. So Campbell´s only hope is that Loma gets injured during the fight.

Campbell is a good fighter but he is getting bodied. If/once his length & size are negated Loma is gonna pummel & stop him. Linares(who beat Campbell much clearer than the cards showed imo) & Pedraza are as big & better fighters than Campbell & Loma worked them both over convincingly. Hope I'm wrong & he makes it a competitive fight the whole way but I can't see it.

Think Campbell goes the way of Crolla, bodyshots might do it. But good luck to him, he'll have a go.

Campbell is good and he has height, reach and 10 lbs over Loma. Still, Loma´s movement and weird angles will be just too much. Luke will steal some rounds but lose a late TKO.

I reckon Campbell is a little underrated and it will be an entertaining fight. Hasn’t got the style/ attributes to bully Lomachenko though and that blueprint worked well for Salido. If it’s a chess match/ boxing match Loma probably wins late stoppage. Hope I’m wrong though!

Linares arguably lost so dunno what you watched he was outboxed but anyways I think Linares was way overated he was good but uk media were foaming out. The mouth with his spunk because he was beating Mitchell Corolla 2x tempted to bet fight lasts 8 at evens or goes distance at 21/10 🤔

That's your opinion. Rounds were tough to score in that fight so I get you. Linares is a superb all-around boxer who gets the "overrated" label because he has the worst weakness a boxer can have in a shaky chin even though he's an accomplished multi-division champ. Regardless, I don't see this going 12 so i'll say the former. Don't think Campbell has the power to keep Loma off & Loma is gonna run him over after he see's that.
