...people expect them to walk over every opponent. The very best fighters have tough fights...sometimes vs perceived lesser opposition. I think some fans don’t realize there’s no automatic wins in boxing and how difficult any fight can be. No fighter is going to be able to dominate every style/opponent.
Why is it that when a fighter is hyped as p4p...

From context I assume you're talking about Loma.. also I guess because of has the likes of Mayweather who never seemed to struggle in the last ten fights, or with Pac who up untill Jmm seemed like he was unbeatable. Very clearly. The pedestals were high. Pfp ridiculous any wayLast edited by Lando610; 08-31-2019, 01:45 AM. -

Floyd/pac are good examples...especially Floyd. People were hyper critical of his opponents. Even he had tough fights and was posed problems by guys who were a level or 2 below him. It’s the nature of the sport...once a certain level is reached, any opponent has the potential to make it a tough fight. From context I assume you're talking about Loma.. also I guess because of has the likes of Mayweather who never seemed to struggle in the last ten fights, or with Pac who up untill Jmm seemed like he was unbeatable. The most recent one I can really remember is Gonzalez (choc) he was hyped up as pound-for-pound until he moved up and wait and couldn't take punches. The boxers on pfp are mowing down people in their original weight class with ease, lomachenko, Crawford, Gonzalez ECT.
It's only until they step up n weight that we start to see the cracks.
And weight classes exist for a reason, people forget.Comment

I don't like it...but I don't like both sides. Im a big Lomachenko fan, but i wish people would stop putting so much pressure on the guy. Just enjoy watching him fight, he is a pleasure to watch.
Some people are overly criticising Loma and some people are getting carried away with the praise. I dislike both sides. Let Loma go and try to achieve his goal. But it's because alot of people put Loma on such a high pedestal that he has alot of "haters" so to speak. They dislike him because he is universally praised. That is bad. Everytime he even remotely struggles in anyway they will be there to criticize him...which is very unfair. He has taken on some tough challenges in less than 15 pro fights.
But then on the other side we have some people already declaring Loma as an atg. Saying he is better than Pacquiao and Floyd...stop that pls. Let the man prove himself. Don't put so much pressure and hype behind him. He is one of the best right now, but he is not at an atg status yet. That is what triggers the hate I think.Comment

Roy Jones Jr , for me, set an impossible standard...people expect them to walk over every opponent. The very best fighters have tough fights...sometimes vs perceived lesser opposition. I believe part of how p4p works SHOULD be about the ease at which you beat your competition. So I think p4p goes hand in hand a lot of the time with making fights look easier & I think if the #1 p4p guy has a tough night vs a non-top ten guy in his division & the #2 p4p guy has a easy night vs the #1 contender in his own division maybe the #2 p4p guy should be bumped up to #1 p4p even though the #1 p4p guy didn't lose.
I think p4p rankings should be more fickle like that & shouldn't be like divisional rankings where winning matters more than looking good. I believe p4p guys obviously need to win, but also need to look good doing it to stay at the tip top.Comment
