PED usage in the 90s and noughties (00s)

Just watching fights from those eras, especially the heavyweight division and how those guys were getting hit by heavy bombs after heavy bombs without falling down - you can tell they’re juiced to grill. I believe that’s why the fights back then were fun to watch because they were action packed.

Most boxers today won’t survive those heavy bombs and it has nothing to do with their chin. They just can’t get away with the PEDs guys from those eras got away with. Classic examples are: Bowe vs Holyfield, Ike vs Tua, and Lennox Lewis vs Ray Mercer.

Another funny observation is how people claim boxers from this era have leaky defence and aren’t as good as the ones from the past. However, when you compare the punishment boxers in this era are taking, to past eras, they’re light years ahead of them.

It’s just the Mayweather effect where everyone thinks once you’re not as highly skilled as Mayweather - you’re not as good as boxers from the past, lol. And skills-wise, Mayweather is arguably the greatest to ever step in the ring. He’s Sweet Pea with shades of Roy Jones. Nostalgia is a terrible drug of choice, lol.

More evidence that Anthony Joshua is on pace to be the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time.
