That "no sparring" is what was embarrassing, to hear about. It did him more bad than good. Could have helped him with his stamina issues.

He Has lots of potential but needs to get a real teacher or coach!

I say Derrick James or McGirt since Kovalev will likely retire after the Canelo fight win or lose!

He has nearly all the attributes that you NEED in boxing to go somewhere!

Even Breadman Stephen Edwards would be a great look for Yarde too, Philly got tough quality sparring and no distractions but hard traditional work!

He took a chance and a huge step up and did it in his opponents backyard. His inexperience especially with fighting hard late in a fight was too much to overcome. But still, he was about two good shots away from pulling it off. I also like that he bet on himself rather than take the step aside money.

Just develop a jab and stop defending with your face and you'll improve your chances of winning against better fighters. Nothing whatsoever to feel ashamed about.

Despite the fact I'm not a Yarde fan, I'm glad to hear that he realises he needs to make some adjustments.

Using the Philly shell is fine some of the time, but it's also limiting and only fighters who have excellent speed, agile footwork, accuracy ( Toney, RJJ, Mayweather) have proven that it works well. ( In Toney's case he had speed and accuracy combined with excellent balance and defensive ability).

Yarde needs to learn to only use the shoulder roll when it's necessary. He has speed and power, but he doesn't have everything required to pull it off.
Whatever he's doing (or not doing ) in the gym has to change. Most likely fighters like Yarde shy away from the monotonous conditioning work like sprints and general roadwork.

Right on. It speaks volumes about his trainer and Yarde's own habits.

Unless he chose only not to spar in Russia for some unknown reason if he wants to improve he has to put in the rounds in the gym.
I also suspect he might not be doing enough roadwork, but that's just a guess.

Yarde done really well in the 8th round . I would have liked him to have kept the pressure up from the start though.

Needs 2 mths rest, an experienced trainer ( good luck with that , no or very little real experienced coaches around but 100s of fitness trainers who think they are boxing COACHES) an experienced conditioner that understands the requirements of a 15 rd fight and can work in tandem with the above trainer ,,,oh and a sports nutritionist .. all this costs money and organising we know but that's the only way he moves forward ..let's be honest warren has worked miracles to get this novice as far as he has.. he don't sell tickets and warrens had the added obstacle of the "know all produce nothing trainer " to contend with ..
