Kovalev and his management shouldn't sign any contract with a catch weight stipulation 175 are no fight. If alvarez wants a light heavyweight strap he should fight at 175

That’s the only way I see Canelo winning but from what I’ve heard it seems like he will fight him at 175 lbs.

I can understand if you think Canelo can nick a close controversial decision but I’m baffled by the amount of people who think he just goes in there and destroys Kovalev with body shots. I know he’s past his best but he’s still a top fighter and way bigger than anyone Canelo has faced.

What about the things Canelo has to worry about

- getting inside to land the body shots

- avoiding Kovalevs elite jab

- avoiding Kovalevs power, he has a great chin at middleweight but how do we know he’ll be able to take punches well from a big puncher at light heavy?

- carrying his power up to 175 lbs, (his power isn’t as great as it’s made out to be in the first place)

History would incline one to suspect so, but it would be refreshing to see all that brushed aside for a change and leave this match up without an asterisk. Honestly the more I think on it the more I like Kovalev's chances even at catchweight. This fight is definitely growing on me by the day.

I don't think Canelo will ask for a catchweight. He knows fans would hate that and it would diminish the potential win. Plus Kovalev probably would not agree to it and without Kovalev there is no fight. There might be a second morning weigh in limiting the weight gain but no catchweight.
