Ok, so what? Are we gonna add 10 seconds to rounds now because x fighter would have won IF they had a few more seconds? I'm sorry, but that's boxing for you. You get 3 minutes every round to work. If you can't do it within the allotted then you move on to the next round. I'm sure Yarde could have done more if he had an extra 5-10 seconds, but so could Kovalev. And it goes ways for every fight.

Yards has to much catching up
To do .. and unless he changes his trainer he'll rely on what he has left against cans , win them and be fed to one of the real fighters in the division and then he gets bashed up again ., warren knows that . As for kovelrv he's a fading , experienced and well schooled fighter who's fighting on memory.. against the yardes of this world he at the moment is getting away with it .. cash out against Canelo is my advice , just hope he comes out healthy because he is fading fast ,.

If you’re not doing any sparring, how can your reactions be conditioned to avoid punches? All those tiny movements a fighter will make prior to throwing a punch are what you get used to reacting to. If you’re not used to seeing them, you’re not getting out the way, and you’re getting tagged.
If you’re not sparring- AND- you only have 30 odd amateur and professional fights combined, you’re f***ed against Kovalev’s jab. No way you’re avoiding that. And he didn’t.
What this fight showed is Yarde is an exceptional talent, but he seriously needs to make changes quickly in his camp. He has a lot of catching up to do.
I hope he does what Amir Khan did and leaves the UK, go to the US to find a top trainer and learn his sport.

That was the literal definition of punching yourself out. He had nothing left after that 8th round barrage didn't work out.

What was surprising was that Kovalev outboxed Ward in their first match, when people only gave him a puncher's chance.
