Yeh, i know a few lads who train at that gym, i feel sorry for them. It's a cult, with the whole 'lions in the camp' BS brainwashing impressionable young men.

Surprised the Pea**** still let Tunde work out there, if i was them i'd tell him to find another gym.

Well, at least they made it to a nice payday
Yarde might never recover mentally while Tunde has to find another trainee to grow in the system nine

I think Tunde is doing some sh^t right & is onto some sh^t, but I think he's off with some other sh^t.

I think hard sparring is massively overrated at a certain level. I do think you need to gain a comfort with being hit & a certain toughness so there is sparring that needs to be done as you are learning the sport, but I don't believe world class level guys NEED sparring for their whole career. I think it likely just results in guys going into the ring at a lesser levels then they could be & puts unneeded miles on the body. I think Ali's life was likely ruined by how much sparring he did although in fairness thats an extreme example.

I don't really get the lack of building wind via running or swimming. I think thats kinda f#cking ****** & counterproductive in a sport where you can't take breaks & its just you out there. Boxing is the last place you wanna find yourself lacking energy.

And there are other things right & wrong I see with the things I know about his system 9, but those two things really stand out the most to me & might be the two oddest things people know about it.

I think the pad stuff is fine. Idk about the concentration on it like Tunde has. I think Floyd got a lot of sh^t from his hater fans who thought his pad warmup with like 50% of his workout or some sh^t back in the day which was naive of them, but f#ck man I think a nice % of Yarde's workout IS pad work & idk that I love that although I'm open to learning more about the thought process with it & seeing more of the work they do with the pads to fully grasp how beneficial it may or may not be in making a world class fighter.

You definitely need to know whether a fighter can take a shot and/or how they deal with being stunned/hurt, but the threshold for that is unclear.

Donald Cerrone, after already knowing how to fight, said to hell with sparring some time ago, and it hasn't harmed him much
Yep. This isn't anything new to MMA. Several MMA guys aren't sparring before fights anymore. Thats where I first heard of it & looked into it a lil more & thought hey they might be onto something. And I think they are.

Again at a certain level. I think sparring is HIGHLY beneficial to people learning combat sports up til you are a world class guy. Idk that I think its a good thing to never spar & then just go into your pro debut never knowing what its like to be hit.

Kinda harsh, I think Yarde has pretty good fundamentals. May need to go back to the drawing board with some of the System 9 prep though.

Good point, didn't really think of that. It's all well and good hitting the pads but doesn't really teach you to use the jab to effectively set up shots when in an actual fight IMO.

Thing with MMA guys - pulling out from big fights with an injury during camp is a lot more common than it is compared do boxing solely because of the nature of the sport. I think if anything, they should at least have some light sparring sessions during camp.

Joshua was ko'd by Joey Daweko in sparring and fell apart in the Ruiz fight.

He might want to look into System 9.
