Was a pretty competitive fight. I had Gonzalez up by a point or two before those series of knockdowns in the 7th that ended it. Kosei lacking defence but a good body puncher most definitely.

Jonathan should have stayed away from the ropes. He was doing well with the counter punching and quick movements. Tanaka proved to be to big and strong for him. Good fight.
By the way, I don't get why it was the card so early. It was finished for 5pm local time. Nagoya Grampus is playing at the same time? OK, I checked it, and yes, it started at 6pm.

GIFS: Kosei Tanaka vs. Jonathan Gonzalez.
Celestino Ruiz was right behind Tanaka, how did he not see this rabbit-punch in the fourth round ? That he ruled a knockdown ; must be that lightning flyweight hand-speed! Its good that video replay is slowly being implemented in the sport of boxing, these mistakes can be costly to a boxer.

Respect to Jonathan Gonzalez, he put up a hell of a fight, outboxed Tanaka in most of the rounds...but he just couldn't take the vicious body attack!
After seeing this fight I think Kosei Tanaka should stay far away from Canizales if he decides to move up. That would be very bad for him considering both of their styles. Dalakian as well, a strong awkward southpaw puncher like that who can fire shots on the move would be a nightmare to deal withLast edited by DuckAdonis; 08-24-2019, 08:19 AM.
