  • Comments Thread For: Warren: Nobody Could Ever Criticize Anthony Yarde For His Balls!

Frank Warren has heard and read a lot of the criticism regarding Anthony Yarde's supposed lack of preparedness for his upcoming title fight against Sergey Kovalev. England's Yarde is 18-0 and has knocked out 17 of his pro opponents. The 27-year-old Yarde hasn't fought a legitimate light heavyweight contender, however, and clearly will take a gigantic step up in competition when he challenges Kovalev (33-3-1, 28 KOs) for his WBO 175-pound championship August 24 in Chelyabinsk, Russia, Kovalev's hometown.

Yarde will get stopped. Respect to him for trying. Could be a good learning experience for him if he doesn't get hurt badly

I really dont understand why they matched him so softly, nobody knows can he take a punch. No sparring stinks of your boy cannot take a punch simple.

Remember Nigel Benn never ever sparred before his fights until he got stopped by Watson.

Yard is nothing but a ticket seller given an opportunity trust me he will gas he has never been pushed i dont know any fighter that has come up this way and it works. Robin Reid who was not great was tested before he fought for a world title.

        He gets stopped late

Every high school state champion/ Amateur feels like he can win the Olympics. Only one actually wins and millions don’t even make it.

Yarde just doesn’t have the experience to not feel confident. He has been fighting local bums.

He has a glimmer of chance but watching him says his defense is too pourous to compete with Sergey. If Kovalev loses to Yarde it’s truly the end of the road. The eyeball test says unless he has been holding back its clobberin time.

I honestly wonder if the no sparring is actually true. He has to get his timing down somehow.
It is true he has fought nobody so it's super hard to tell how good he is.

I watched the video of the weigh in. Yarde's balls seem to be holding out fine so far.

But the real test is yet to come. To paraphrase Mike Tyson, "Everybody has balls ... till they get punched in the mouth"

He does spar, but not with champions or other prospects. His trainer's thinking on that is that guys who might be rivals of Yarde, or might just want to prove their status by laying it on him in the gym, won't give him the kind of sparring he needs to learn and improve.

When will we see these magnificent balls. I don’t want to have to wait for Frank Warrens iCloud to get hacked.

I honestly think Yarde has a good chance. His boxing is poor, he’ll be made to look like Eubank vs Groves but I think he’ll get through with something huge when Kov is cruising midway.
