A draw does do it. That's why he got the second fight. GGG did much better in the first fight but the score was settled in the rematch. Do you think GGG is more deserving of another shot than Charlo or Andrade?? The opportunity should be spread around not just hogged up by a declining fighter who is doing worse each time he steps in with Canelo. Alvarez is an intelligent fighter. He has already figured GGG out. The more they fight the more Canelo will dominate. He needs a new challenge. Someone who has a chance of actually beating him. Andrade poses a chess match and Charlo poses both a tactical battle and has powerful unorthodox counters. Charlo will have a path to that fight with the WBC one way or another. Both of those fights are more appealing to me than seeing Canelo rag doll a declining GGG again. There is a reason Golovkin hasn't stepped up against another elite since those Canelo fights. He's in self preservation mode. Its fine, it is his career after all. It doesn't make him the most deserving of the opportunity though. Atleast beating Derev will make him champion again. That is a step toward actually earning the shot, though he would have been in a better position taking that fight before instead of the Vanes tune up. It still leaves a sour taste in my mouth that such a farce of a fight took place over Cinco de Mayo holiday, a weekend where there is always traditionally a great fight taking place.
