I'm positive Spence Jr and Crawford had a man to man behind the scenes and talked about fighting each other and I'm sure Spence gave him his word that he will fight him and not leave the division without fighting him
They don't need a promoter involved, if Crawford contract is truly up in a year, he doesn't have to sign with PBC just like Mikey Garcia did not sign with PBC. He can go and make the fight with Spence Jr on PPV and get all of his money without Arum taking a chunk of it. Nobody gets away cleanly from Arum though without either buying themselves out or sitting on the shelf for 1-2 years while trying to fight him in court
