I don’t think Anthony Joshua has any friends in the boxing world outside his team, his gym and Matchroom.
Since his loss to Andy Ruiz, I only remember Ricky Hatton expressing confidence Joshua will win and saying he thinks Joshua should take the rematch.
It seems like everyone else in boxing has something bad to say about him recently.
I wonder how this will impact Joshua in the ring. I see signs that he’s already giving up on being mister nice guy.
His whole career, from the gold medal that was basically given to him, to his title wins over Charles Martin, Wladimir Klitschko and Joseph Parker, he’s always had a massive crowd and the feeling that world behind him. He even had the crowd and the world behind him in New York.
He was always the hero. I think it’ll be interesting to see him as the villain, which is what appears to be happening.
I also wonder if he’ll be mentally strong enough for that transition.
