A deal is in place for Canelo Alvarez to fight Sergey Kovalev contingent on the Russian winning next week against Anthony Yarde, Kovalev manager Egis Klimas told BoxingScene.com on Friday. Klimas said Alvarez is waiting for Kovalev to win his bout on Aug. 24 so both sides can "put the signature on the contract." The fight could take place as early as November or December.

Wow no one is pushing them self's to the limit like Canelo! I wish a lot of PBC fighters would fallow this model.

Why not just clean out 160? Why don't Canela fight Andrade to Unify the MW division? Why Target The Old Lion and not the Young Lion at light HW?

Conversely, Jacobs and Kovalev would give Canelo FOTY and FOTD.


But can Kovalev get past Yarde? I sure hope so. That would set up the Canelo fight with major award implications.
