Because "back in MY day", I would spank anybody in Super Street Fighter II. You pick my character and I'll beat you with them. That's how good I was.
But you know what would happen? Everyone would tell me to pick Dhalsim because they thought he was garbage. When in reality, back then Dhalsim was the cheesiest character on that MF'er. Why? This is how you can understand why Floyd was dominant in his LATTER career (because that's what people are reacting to. They're ignoring his stoppage era. So be it.)
With Dhalsim, he could literally hit you from all the way across the map and you couldn't get close to him unless you could time him perfectly. He could throw fireballs to force you to either block (and take damage) or jump to approach him and get kicked or punched while in the air. You had to time your attack to get a hit off on him. He could teleport behind you, grab and headpunch you 5-10 times, then teleport to safety and do his stretchy attacks again. He frustrated you into making mistakes and it was easy to get PERFECT wins on people.

See, that's what Floyd did. Keep you away from him, frustrate you into making mistakes, all the while scoring just enough damage to win the fight.

SO yes. I agree. It's just like Street Fighter. But no, it's not like that kid holding defend. HE attacks. When he needs to. It's YOUR job to get him to attack more and figure out how to avoid getting hit back. And he DOES hit you back. As evident by every single point card he's ever had.
