Comments Thread For: Barrios: Akhmedov is Top Amateur, Never Faced Anyone Like Me

The selected attire he chose for Tuesday's press conference in Los Angeles suggested Mario Barrios was preparing for a high school dance rather than the biggest fight of his career. Decked out in a gray sleeveless vest with an array of pin-on buttons to disrupt his otherwise all-black wardrobe scheme and San Antonio Spurs baseball cap, the unbeaten super lightweight's appearance didn't exactly scream world beater.' That's perfectly fine, as he's grown accustomed to surpassing everyone's expectations.

Good test for them both! Should be a good one! I like what I see from Mario Barrios and Subriel Matias @ 140! Barrios vs. Baranchyk would be great, and so would Matias vs. Postol! I hope Prograis is not stalled out in court!

Ahmedov wasnt all that in the amateurs, has loses to Berinchik, Gaibnazarov, Sotomayor, but Barrios will be surprised what the amateurs of today are capable of, most of them fights like pros (and copy their idols like Loma or GGG), because scoring criteria and judging has changed since 2013 and pro or amateur matches are scoring the same now

Postol is mandatory to Ramirez and Matias is mandatory to Taylor so good luck seeing that fight. Barrios-Baranchyk on the other hand would make sense for both.

Ramirez has been ordered to fight Catterall, and Taylor is "supposed" to be fighting Prograis! However, I get your point, they'll probably sit tight, or fight some non-threatening folks while waiting! Hopefully Barrios vs. Baranchyk, or maybe even Barrios vs. Mikey Garcia?
