Comments Thread For: An Uncertain Picture at Junior Featherweight

By Cliff Rold - It's a division with a little bit of everything: a long-reigning lineal king, a unified titlist, and two more talented beltholders. Along with all of its present tense, 122 lbs. also has one of the richest histories in boxing since its contemporary incarnation came to be in the 1970s. Jr. featherweight was...

Jr. Featherweight is a young division, minus the fossil Guillermo Rigondeaux. Theres been a lot of great action recently, as Cliff mentioned Danny Roman unifying with T.J, both of Emanuel Navarrete and Isaac Dogboe's fights ; before that was Dogboe's upset of former WBO featherweight champ Jessie Magdaleno -- speaking of which Ronny Rios stunning Oscar De La Hoya was a big surprise.

I'm looking at some characters in the 122 with interest: Albert Pagara is coming back this week at Pinoy-Pride 46 and former WBO Bantamweight champ Marlon Tapales, which reminds me of coward cheat Luis Nery who was also stripped of the WBC bantamweight title like Tapales on the scales, this clown needs to come and play with the big boys.

I love the division because I'm a huge TJ fan, he's my favourite fighter bar none. Skilled as hell and has a great punch too. The division is heating up, the TJ-Roman fight set the precedent, now we have Rigondeaux-Vargas being lined up. Navarrete is due a unification too. Iwasa is mandatory to the winner of Roman-Akhmadaliev. I'd like to see Wake-Doheny soon as it makes sense for both and I fancy my boy in that one.

the monster is coming to take over the super bantamweight division after he's finished his bantamweight business! 122lbs will be even better when he joins!

Beautiful division. Speed, technique, stamina, heart, ring IQ, power...everything a fan wants to see in boxing and it's in all in this smaller divisions. I truly do not care much about 175 and up. Unless it's something fantas6like Joshua vs klitchsko or vs Ruiz.

              My thoughts exactly .
Inoue's fighting Donaire next. Who's a Big Bantamweight and a good gauge as to how Inoue's power will carry over to 122 lbs.
I think Roman beats Vargas and Navarette .
As long as Danny doesn't get robbed in his next fight. I think he has a good shot at unifying then fighting either Inoue or Rigondeux .

When all is said and done I see " The Monster " Inoue being top 3 P4P after unifying both 118 and 122 lbs.
