Pacquiao’s speed and natural talent is his obvious strengths, but his experience is what sets him apart from most of these welters such as Spence, Thurman, etc.
One of the reasons he’ll still be able to take them even at age 40 is exactly what Thurman pointed out. His experience. He’s been there so many times, and post Marquez he became a much more technical and calculated boxer. Hence why he doesn’t go for the KO anymore.
His style of fighting was much more ferocious before his KO loss to Marquez. He wouldn’t mind taking a punch to give 3 or 4 right back. That’s why it would have been a different fight with Mayweather during that time. He was relentless on going for the kill.
Today’s guys like Crawford, Spence, etc. have not been in ANY WARS. They don’t have that experience or that wisdom. They will be very ill prepared to step in the ring with Pacquiao, regardless of the age difference.
Too much experience up against young guns who haven’t even accomplished anything or haven’t even fought each other. Crawford, Spence....these guys have absolutely no wars on their resume.
It’s like Brady and Belichick in the super bowl, the experience of knowing what to do in certain situations.
