If more CTE is the goal than yeah let's go with bigger gloves.

I actually wonder if the older fighters from the Marciano and Joe Louis era dealt with less long term brain issues since they fought with smaller gloves?
The older era fighters suffered more bc there was less rules like no counts to a knock down fighter at times while the opponent was able to be behind you and beat on you as soon as you stood up,no nutral corner stuff...rough stuff like that coupled with more rnds at times ,probably weather impact and atmosphere like smoking was allowed to which didn't help the overall fighters ability ,basically less clean air to take in while trying to catch a breath and so on.

Used to fight with 8oz and old school 6oz 1960's gloves out of the ring and its not a pillow those are hard leather and even bag gloves with steel bars in them which didn't last long at all as a young teenager I found out its a bad idea while I got hit with them I had the padded ones. lol

The added weight also means less cuts however ,that's why you get many cuts in the UFC the gloves are very hard on top and 4 ounces ,they rip the skin very easy. The standard 10/12 oz boxing glove enbles one to take more shots to the head ,maybe with more force but ? Really its how and where you hit someone.

MMA gloves do more damage on the chin /jaw by hitting it harder and more accurate ,while the boxing gloves on the face from nose up ,cheek/temple back ear you can thud the head more .

Longer fights doesn't make it a more skilled fight. Bigger gloves takes away the actual trajectory of a real punch so no....smaller gloves would improve ones technical abilities ,it would only hinder or subtract fighters with weaker hands these types usually request certain brand boxing gloves ,sissy hands ….lol...or fighters reliant on using gloves as catchers mitts ,smaller gloves force one to actually have defense!

If you're going pro this is the last thing that should be on your mind BIGGER gloves, huh ? lol

I saw that one as well and my point still stands.

Artem stated that all he really suffered in the Knight fight were face lacerations which healed relatively quick. He fought Paulie not too long afterwards.

I always use the example if someone told you to punch a brick wall would you swing harder with or without gloves?

A fighter will always hit harder with gloves full stop.

Paulie's fight aside, the theoretical advantage of less hand padding is somewhat undone by the fact they both stand in the pocket and just swing for the fences lol.
There's a good reason why headgear has been removed in amateur fights.

Head gear prevents cuts and bruises but it doesn't protect the head from concussions. It also gives the receiver of the punches a false sense of security which makes them less defensive and go for points. There are significantly more fights stopped because concussions in amateur fights in which head gears are used.

Bigger gloves work the same way with the additional "benefit" of the hands being more protected which makes fighters receive more sustained damage throughout a 12 round fight.

Making gloves bigger won't make boxing safer and seems like a bad idea.

Which is exactly why opting for bigger gloves in professional fights will get more fighters killed or hurt.
