Party A has signed a valid contract, if they refuse to honour that contract and party B sustains financial impact there is definitely a case for damages.

But Ruiz has the leverage and he's getting enough of a *****ty deal that he will probably end up getting what he wants.

With leverage, you can re-negotiate contracts. We see it happen all the time, someone signs a bad deal, they end up being worth way more, and the deal ends up being re-negotiated because of it.

You can't renegotiate an already binding contract.

If you have a long time contract with a promoter say, that is coming to an end, you can then renegotiate for more money in order to sign an extension. But not with an already binding one.

Ruiz in the event he won knew how big the fight would be and the circumstances of what he would be making off the promotion run by Hearn who gave him a hand out and could have just cancelled the fight because Ruiz was the 4th guy as they went down the line they got to.

I was thinking the same thing. I guess they were offered 40 million to stage the fight there and we all know money talks. It is still very strange to me. I can imagine rowdy singing British fans getting the Islamic Religious Police calling the local sword executioner LOL
