I fully expected him to win the rematch but the fact that he’s choosing to fight in Saudi Arabia is a strange one IMO. Financially rewarding of course, but the rematch would’ve been highly rewarding financially in both the UK and US. Does AJ view this as possibly his last payday? Or is he simply just prioritising money over the fans?
Is Saudi Arabia a sign of AJ cashing out?

I think it has to do with Ruiz not wanting to fight in the UK and matchroom is technically avoiding going to court plus the Arab guys put up a big money to host the fight.
I think match room is confident AJ will win rematch. They just want the belts back for future business.
Let's not act like its something new. Even mayweather will fight outside the US for 100mil.
That's cool quid.Comment

Probably has to do with Ruiz having enough say to not accept the UK and Saudi Arabia offering a crazy amount of money for the rematch. Basically, they wanted no part of rematching in NY and when Ruiz made it known he didn't want it in the UK, then this good have been the best remaining option.Comment

Feels that way. If the goal is to grow a US fanbase and eventually fight Wilder why are you having a fight that will on 1 pm on the West Coast? On a day when all the major conferences have their championship game? This gets mentioned at best the 3rd segment on SportsCenter and no local sports broadcast will even mention it. The only day I think could possibly be a worse day to have a major fight would be Superbowl Sunday if again the goal is to get viewers and/or earned media.Comment
