Believe it or not,humans are the only animal that exhibit spite. Spite from an evolutionary point of view is when a animal puts themselves at a disadvantage,or hurts themselves,just to harm another animal. This serves no benefit towards humans,yet we still do it. In the case of canelo,he refuses to fight ggg a third time because he does not want to let ggg make money off of him. This is where the concept of spite comes into play.
1. He has gone against the wishes of skipper and dazn who wish to make the 3rd fight. This caused them to limit his opponent choice,and ultimately cost him a belt.
2. He is denying himself the huge payday that would come with the third fight against an older ggg.
3. Is denying the fans of a fight that many people would subscribe to dazn to see. As it stands the score is a draw,and a razor thing split decision. Rematches have happened for fights that were less close.
4. Is denying himself the chance to ko ggg and silence the naysayers. If he truly believed that he won both fights,why not run it back and end things once and for all.

Canelo has many things to gain from fighting Golovkin,but it is purely out of spite that he avoids the 3rd fight. Because of this he has made things far more complicated than they need to be,but hopefully he can put aside his spite,so that the world may see the third fight.

Canelo had to dig really really deep in 24 rounds to edge out a MD on the scorecards in Vegas. Think about that.
