"an existing agreement which named Barclays as the exclusive venue for all PBC events taking place on the East Coast"

Uhhh, wut? PBC had a show in Baltimore last week. This is pretty messed up given how PBC finally started to be open to marketing hometown fights, at least for showcase title defenses. If true, it means no more homecoming fights for Tank, Hurd, JRock, Thurman, Danny Garcia, Lubin, etc. This could/should keep Philly/DC/Florida prospects like Jaron Ennis and any Cubans who want to fight in Miami from joining PBC.

Nah, don't think that is it. They can have fights on the EC in other arenas minus the Barclays, but they have to put a certain amount of card at the Barclays per year. I think the number may be 8? Or maybe Barclays get first dibs on any EC fight? But Hurd just fought in his home town as did Tank.

We are in August and the rematch is all the way in September? What gives?

With a few adjustments Hurd can make this a closer fight. I am rooting for Williams again.

I like both guys, they are good for the sport.

          I know you meant December.
With 90 days of full VADA, the earliest Saturday would be Saturday Nov 9th. But apparently the fight has to be at Barclays, which is booked all four Saturdays Nov 9, 16, 23 and 30th (two Islanders games and two Disney shows).

So that means Dec 7th is the first possible Saturday available at Barclays outside the 90-day VADA window. They got the 14th. We're lucky this didn't slide into early 2020 given all the restrictions in place.

I hope you're right. If so, the quote was misleading. Some of these guys are huge draws in their hometowns and the atmosphere for homecoming shows (Crawford in Omaha, Tank in Baltimore, Ramirez in Fresno) makes for the best experience and great TV.

I don't think 50/50 fights and unifications should necessarily be "home games" but IMO a showcase or a crappy mandatory should be used to build fighters in their home regions if possible.

“Barclays Center is proud to be the official East Coast home of the PBC,” said Brett Yormark, CEO of BSE Global. “As our commitment to the sport expands, boxing has truly become another anchor franchise at the venue. In fact, today’s announcement guarantees a minimum of eight fights annually at Barclays Center, bringing many more unforgettable moments to our ring.”
Opened in 2012, Barclays Center is the home of the Brooklyn Nets and hosts premier concerts, championship boxing, college basketball, and family entertainment.

I think this means they will have to get eight shows per year. I actually don't recall all that many Barclays shows this year for the PBC. Part of that is because Spence/Porter/DSG have fought elsewhere.

Thanks for the clarification. From when they first fought and until the rematch that is a long time.

Amazing first fight and the rematch will be the same!

Looking forward to attending, leaning toward J rock in the rematch cuz he can match Hurd in strength and inside fighting plus he’s faster!

                    Boxing in 2019 is incredible

Rematches aren't bad and used to be very common.
