Comments Thread For: Matchmaker: Vergil Ortiz Has Chance To Make Statement

Robert Diaz can't help but laugh every time he's assigned blame by the court of public opinion whenever a Golden Boy Promotions fighter takes a loss. There's no questioning that several young fighters among the company's stable have taken their lumps in recent weeks. The disturbing trend mirrors that of Golden Boy's early years, which saw several prospects and even a few notable boxers bumped off before finally producing its first homegrown champion in Abner Mares.

Love this matchup! It's a great fight that can go either way! Orosco has skills and experience but he'll lack size and power against Ortiz so it's a toss up but I'm going with Ortiz.
Gotta give props to Golden boy promotions for putting Ortiz in with Orozco and believing in him...
We'll find out soon enough if it was a wise idea or not....

Welterweight is just the right mixed of speed and power!

Can we stop with the Mauricio Herrera has never been stopped and Ortiz was the first to do it line. While true, let's not ignore the fact he's 39 years old! This is starting to become like Teofimo Lopez the hot prospect knockout artist that was but isn't against B class fighters

Just go back and see how many GB fighters Robert Diaz has gotten knocked off, that speaks for itself. RD doesn't make fights, he buys fights, not a tough job, and even still has no clue. Was much better as Marco Antonio Barrera's flunky and driver...
