Comments Thread For: Wilder: Fury's Lineal Claim Is ******; It's An Invisible Title!

NEW YORK Of all the things Tyson Fury says that annoy Deontay Wilder, constantly calling himself the lineal heavyweight champion might top the list. Wilder considers that a convenient claim for Fury, who in October 2016 relinquished the last three of the four titles he won from Wladimir Klitschko the previous November.

The status goes back 100 years. Or at least back to when Wladimir beat Chagaev......

Tyson's claim is ****** more based on the opponents he is selecting than the title being invisible.

He is essentially banking his entire reputation on an ugly win over Wlad that he refused to solidify with a rematch victory.

I honestly believe he didn't want to fight Wlad a second time, and that played a part in his breakdown

Wilder shouldn't talk about titles. The one he has shouldn't be his, he's a paper champ.

Wait, didn't he call Fury the lineal champion in the build up to their first fight? Or was that just the media that kept saying it?

If Wilder had beaten Fury, would he be saying these things?

I don't disagree with Wilder on this. I'm not a fan of Mythical Matchups, P4P and Lineal Titles. I'm not a fan of Diamond Belts or Franchise Belts either. I just like good fights and fighters willing to take on the perceived best in thier division.

Fury is also the rightful WBC champion but Wilder and his team of crooks had to rob him.

If Wilder had beaten Fury he'd definitely be calling himself the lineal champ.

The 'lineal' title has lost its prestige by Tyson Fury defending it against the likes of : Pianeta, Seferi, Schwarz, but WAIT! with dangerous undefeated world-class contender Otto Wallin its stock skyrockets! ESPN-Toprank will surely get their investment returned tenfold, I'm sure of this.
