Is Conlan the least intriguing hyped prospect ever?

I can’t remember a prospect who was so hyped who I was just convinced was whatever and had no interest in.

I just feel like he’s going to get upset at some point, go on a 3-5 streak and disappear forever.

Does anyone else feel this way?

I'm not convinced he hangs around world class opposition either. Definitely hyped up and can't knock their efforts to promote him though

Idk about ever. But he seems to be dropping with every fight with his prospect value.

Not unsurprising I remember there was some rank the prospects thread about 6-9mos ago maybe & Conlan was firmly last or 2nd to last on everyone's list iirc.

I was high on him, but it was clear within his first few pro fights that he wasn't going to be that good.

He doesnt do a damn thing for me - on top of that, how the hell was he a main event on the ESPN * card over the weekend??? He is an undercard fighter, no more than that. It has the be the worst ESPN * card in their short history to put him as a main event against an unknown at that.

TR needs to give him a real test to see what he has. It's clear he's not going to look great even against overmatched competition but he may be able to give some of the top guys some problems. But we need to see him put in tougher. We pretty much know what we are going to get from him against lesser competition.

But overall I agree. He got a solid amount of hype out of the Olympics but others have passed him by. Even Arum said yesterday that Stevenson pretty much washes him.

Yeah, he doesn't seem to bring anything special to the table. Besides his Irish following.

They might want to give him some extra time to continue to develop. Nothing wrong with postponing a title shot for another two years or so.

He's got the Irish mafia behind him and he sells tickets. As long as you can sell tickets you'll keep headlining shows no matter how good you are

He’s not very intriguing. But I would say the 2nd least intriguing. The way Schafer and Haymon are doing Karlos Balderas dirty makes him easily the least intriguing and most irrelevant

You know, I think Paddy Barnes is actually the leader in this category right now, although good for him for stepping up right away.
