  • Did Golden Boy and DAZN violate the Ali Act?

Our at least tried to circumvent it?

Reports are that Golden Boy promised DAZN a third GGG fight when they signed their deal with DAZN back in October of 2018.

If you remember around this time PBC was the frontrunner for signing GGG. Then DAZN suddenly upped their offer, blowing the PBC offer out of the water. It was openly talked about by Hearn that the plan was for GGG to fight in May or June then Canelo in September. Seems like everyone knew of the promise Golden Boy made to DAZN except Canelo.

Golden Boy & DAZN announced a monthly Golden Boy card to showcase up and coming fighters just days after DAZN announced the signing of GGG.

So it seems as if DAZN promised GGG the Canelo fight only if he signed with them.

coercive provision described in this subparagraph is a contract provision that grants any rights between a boxer and a promoter, or between promoters with respect to a boxer, if the boxer is required to grant such rights, or a boxer’s promoter is required to grant such rights with respect to a boxer to another promoter, as a condition precedent to the boxer’s participation in a professional boxing match against another boxer who is under contract to the promoter.

Subsection (a) of this section applies to any contract between a commercial broadcaster and a boxer, or granting any rights with respect to that boxer, involving a broadcast in or affecting interstate commerce, regardless of the broadcast medium. For the purpose of this subsection, any reference in subsection (a)(1)(B) to ‘promoter’ shall be considered a reference to ‘commercial broadcaster’.

They tried go around it by having GBP have an agreement with DAZN, but not actually including it in the contract of GGG or Canelo.

Doesn't surprise me if they made that promise. Remember everyone saying that Wilder was promised Joshua if he signed a 3 fight deal with DAZN?

Remember when Hearn was openly violating the Ali Act by saying Charlo had to sign with DAZN to get the Canelo fight. Somebody pulled his coattails and explained to him you can't say that publicly in America and he stopped saying it.

                Stop it

I bet It’s really not Complicated , GB made assurances that there’d be a Trilogy fight because Canelo has always been the type of fighter who will fight whoever ( Never a fan of his But always respected that aspect of him) so they probably didn’t
                Think it Be a issue

How is anyone going to guess that for the first time in his career Canelo is openly avoiding a fighter( The Biggest fight available for The Company that Cuts his cheque’s and a fight that gives them their biggest chance of success) . People need to call it what it is and not try and say Oh Canelos a boss

A boss doesn’t doesn’t only look out for himself while f.ucking his business partners because he has no interest in their success. A Boss doesn’t move off his date or be willing to take less $ so he doesn’t have to take a fight that’s in everyone’s best interest

Those aren’t boss moves , Those are selfish co.ck sucker moves. Mayweather moved like a boss because everyone associated with him in business won. Espinoza was able to bring Showtime record PPV sales and prove the initial investment was well worth it / Haymon was able to convince investors off Mayweathers success that There’s still obscene $ to be made in boxing and was able to launch the PBC.Mayweather could have fought 6 straight Bertos/Guerrero’s and only looked out for himself if he wanted and just banked however many 100s of millions and let Espinoza sink at Showtime , But his moves made everyone he had a business relationship with win , That’s real Boss sh.it

It was pretty obvious that DAZN was betting on the 3rd fight to attract more subscribers to the platform, which is why they offered him that mad money contract. Everything was pointing at that but Canelo didn't know that? If he couldn't add 2 and 2 together, he is a dumbazz

Except that Canelo signed his deal before GGG signed.

                    So there goes that theory…..
