If he beats GGG how much do you think he'll make vs Canelo?

Long term I think the most profitable move by Derevyanchenko was forcing a purse bid vs Canelo or fighting GGG for the vacant title with hopes of winning & making even more for the Canelo unifying fight.

If you're not a Draw on your own and never made even a $1 Million Purse...WTF gives you the right to try and get 8 Figures from Canelo?

That is exactly why for someone like Canelo, unifying while being the biggest draw in the sport is almost IMPOSSIBLE! This is where Arum Break Down of why Canelo should be Franchise Champion kinda make sense

No the biggest Draw in boxing probably shouldn't be wasting time taking Mandatory's vs Derevyenchenko who lost to the guy he JUST BEAT

Practically all of these guys turned down their career paydays. GBP is smart for not giving these guys who are not well known lottery tickets. Dont forget they also offered spence 20M to fight but he also turned down his career payday by ducking Canelo.

Because he could force it to purse bid to make more money and that’s his right as a number one contender.

So Canelo wins the IBF in May, immediately gets told he has to face a mandatory despite other big name fighters like Floyd etc.. going years without facing one. Offers that mando 5X he’s ever made despite him never being any kind of draw. Makes no sense.

This is true, however of course Canelo will walk away from that and he did. Now it is no big payday at all for Derevyenchenko

I think it was a risky move by Sergiy. A Canelo fight has more eyeballs on it than most. A loss to Canelo so long as your competitive can actually enhance your career. Declining 5.5 to face Canelo may have been a bad bet.

A 50-50 split with GGG might be worth more than 65-35 with Canelo or $5.5 million.

And if SD ends up with the IBF belt because no one will pay him, he probably demands more than $5.5 in the future. Jacobs just got $12 million because he had the IBF.

That fight can't go to purse bid where Derevyanchenko will get a set percentage.

What you don't seem to grasp is that GBP doesn't set the budget for these fights. They are no longer on PPV will they can take chances with it doing certain amount of buys. DAZN gives them budgets for certain cards. They couldn't offer Derevyanchenko any more than they did. This was AFTER Canelo had accepted to take around 5M less than his usual 35M per fight deal.
