Comments Thread For: Hughie Fury: Povetkin is Dangerous, But I'm Confident of Winning

Less than a week after signing with Matchroom Boxing, heavyweight hopeful Hughie Fury already has his first assignment-and a big one, to boot. The former heavyweight title challenger is locked in for a dangerous crossroads bout with former secondary titlist Alexander Povetkin. The two will collide August 31, in chief support to the three-belt lightweight title clash between Vasiliy Lomachenko and Luke Campbell at O2 Arena in London, England.

A few years ago I would have picked Povetkin to win a wide UD but now that he is pushing 40 I think it could be a lot closer. I’m still not sure if Fury is good enough to beat Povetkin. The cut played a big factor in the Pulev fight but he still got handily beat by a 37 year old fighter. Fury is still only 24 so a few losses to top level opposition isn’t the end of the road for him. He will learn more from the 2 losses than any of his previous wins. His best win in my eyes is the Rudenko fight. He dropped & easily beat him.

Lol Fury camp having to admit the pedigree of one of Anthony Joshua's opponents now Hughie is fighting him.

I've got no idea who will win this. But my instinct says Fury on points.

If I was Povetkin I'd walk through his punches to get the KO. Fury doesn't punch that hard and Povetkin ha's a good chin

This. Hughie punches like a male Britney Spears impersonator. If Povetkin gives him 0 respect & just walks him down all night without putting much thought into trying to outbox him or KO him odds are he'll win & likely stop Hughie.

All Hughie gots is speed & awkwardness. He's ill equipped to beat a legit top 10 guy with mulitple high level attributes.

Povetkin should be able to win this comfortably on paper but the actual result entirely depends on how much of his age he'll be showing. Hughie's range of talents is negligible in a fight like this, all he aims to do is outbox but Povetkin knows how to cut off the ring very very well.

Hughie isnt ready for the caliber of Povetkin, expect a quick KO from Povetkin...who will have no respect at all for Hughies girly punching power and will walk right thru him.
