I started a thread about this a while back.

The franchise belt makes sense for superstars.

Once a fighter reaches superstar status they should be elevated to franchise status.

    Why? Sounds unfair right?

    Wrong.

Once a boxer becomes a superstar he becomes unmanageable and too big to control.

Just like a Hollywood actor that commands 20+ million a movie...good luck getting that ***er to listen to your demands.

Same with boxing. De La Hoya, Canelo, Mayweather do or did as they ***ing pleased.

Or vacate and do their own thing while giving the other fighters a shot at the belts

the ABC bodies (and DAZN) should simply.....

        1) stop ordering ***wit mando's..... that behavior is..... a) documented ******ity (NEVER put your own ******ity in print)..... b) completely counter-productive, both to their own organisation and to boxing in general

        2) talk to Canelo, treat him like you would have treated Mayweather..... as a genuine superstar..... because he will OBVIOUSLY make big fights happen.....

the IBF and DAZN recently embarrassed themselves with their greed and incompetence

So if you have a superstar at 147lbs and goes off and does his own thing what happens to your 147lb WBC belt?

You want some 2nd best mother***er to hold it because the real man at 147 is a superstar who wont lsiten to your demands?

You're better off letting him keep the belt until he loses. In the end he most likely will be facing good competition or the fans will turn on him anyway.

Let him decide the super fights he wants to make and ride the wave.

If Canelo decides to fight who he pleases we get him vs Jacobs or vs Kova (not for 160 i know) or GGG. If the belts have a say he fights derevechenko or whatever his name is.

They want the prestige of being a world champ but don't want to follow the rules for being a Champ. The same rules that got them the belts. So just vacate and do your own thing

there are FOUR main belts, and some of the title-holders are awful

that problem has existed for YEARS..... and has nothing to do with the new "Franchise" title

it would be different if there was only one belt..... and it would be different if it was possible for a superstar to unify all four belts..... but realistically, it isn't possible..... as the IBF and DAZN just proved

oh, how could I forget..... the IBF and DAZN are not solely to blame..... despite Golovkin beating Jacobs to unify the WBA middleweight belts, the WBA quickly appointed a new "junior" champion..... and the WBC just appointed a new regular champion

so basically, it's like that game where frogs pop up through little holes and you smack them with a mallet

Its so fun to see Canelo fan boys and trolls alike disagree with each other. So satisfying.

If there was only one world champion per weight class then this wouldn't even be an issue.

There would only be one mandatory to deal with. And since all fighters would be ranked by the one sanctioning body the top contender of the bunch couldn't help but be good.
