    I don't get it.
Xcaret said that Argentina is OR was the richest latin country. What he's saying is true, so why is he getting so much heat for it? That is some funny ****.

With the person that started this thread, that does sound like a cool idea. Imagine a boxing much today with 80,000 people. That would be unreal. Nothing like that has happened in decades. I think that lots of people would be capable of buying tickets.

What is the richest latin country?
Also, why did you take it so offensively? Is it that because it's fake? Or do you just hate xcaret?.....or both?

Either way, what is the richest latin country?

PPV sales from Whom?? HBO has an "Argentine arm"??

Who is gonna pay the local licensing fees? International broadcast rights? etc.

It isn't that simple.... try to show some basic knowledge of business.

The Rolling Stones were there in Feb and sold out two days and tickets started at $25 dollars and even that was expensive for a lot of people. Right now a big payday for Baldomir is here in the states not in Buenos Aires, would not mind it though cause Buenos Aires is a great city with a nighlife that wont quit and beautiful girls. I would love to go back to see Baldomir fight Maywather at River Plate Stadium.....that would be amazing.

Of course. The Buenos Aires suggestion was so simplistic as to be laughable.

The idiot doesn't even understand that HBO can't just go into another country and broadcast and collect the PPV.

Why do you think that Hatton was broadcast on Sky and not Showtime PPV? Why do you think that Pac's last fight wasn't on HBO.

The economics of an international broadcast are substantially different than a domestic broadcast.

True $100 would be a lot per ticket given the state of the Argentine economy, but consider two things.

                    1) Argentina is a huge sports loving nation and this would be as big a sporting event as the nation has hosted problem since the 1978 World Cup (may be leaving something out, but you get the idea). THere would be huge enthusiasm for this type of event, probably a lot more than for the Stones concert discussed earlier (love the Stones but they must have played BA sometime fairly recently).

                    2) THere are still a fairly large number of wealthy argentines, many of whom could spend 500-2k for ring side seats inflating the gate even more.

Finally, the real issue is would Floyd have the guts to do this and this would take major guts. Fighting a tough guy to begin with in front of 80K partisans would be a very gutsy move. I would have far more respect for Mayweather if he did this than if he fought Margarito anywhere outside of the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. However, I think the upside for this would be huge. Boxing was at its zenith when megafights were fought in huge stadiums. Can you imagine what the atmosphere would be like? If Floyd won in this type of an environment he could become an international superstar.
